Building Cultures of Respect

Building Cultures of Respect

sponsFrom Turtle Island (North America) learning circles emerge to bring together indigenous knowledge and traditions with governing society practices for respectful mutual acknowledgment of universal needs and values.

As inhabitants of the most heterogeneous continent — with intertwined histories of its peoples evolving from all parts of the globe — human beings of Turtle Island are uniquely located to promote this vision.

When cultures and traditions blend in a respectful manner, democratic settings emerge for all creation – floral, fauna, and human – to flourish.

Turtle Island Learning Circle is devoted to creation of intersecting learning circles and to development, promotion, and perpetual sustenance of socially responsible and equitably administered communities.

We do this primarily through three programs: Moccasin Paths, the Circle of Courage and RAP training, and other presentations or consultations developed for a specific organization, tribe, or group.

We use simple, jargon-free language; are in touch with the diverse backgrounds of all those in attendance, and offer practical implementation strategies. We recognize the critical importance of relationship as the single most effective tool for assisting those we are trying to help.

We welcome discussion of real-life situations in each community we visit.
