Population comparable to London and Paris at the time, Cahokia underscores the lie that North America was unpopulated and uncivilized. These falsifications were used through the Papal Bulls of 1455 and 1493 which declared the Americas belonged to the Catholic Church under the “Doctrine of Discovery” propagated by European monarchs and Pope Alexander VI.
